Chau’s life experience informs her practical and realistic approach to resolving legal issues while minimizing lengthy and expensive court processes.
Her own experience as a co-parent for more than a decade gives Chau a distinct perspective on the value of building a positive working relationship with one’s parenting partner.
Chau is trained in the collaborative family law process and mediation. She is deeply committed to helping parents resolve conflict through collaborative practices that protect the integrity of the lifelong co-parenting relationship.
Chau’s focus on healthy parenting relationships extends to her work with Intended Parents, Surrogates and Donors, such as preparing Surrogacy and Donorship Agreements or with obtaining a Declaration of Parentage from court or navigating the adoption process.
Chau co-teaches the Clinical Family Law Course in the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba and is the Co-chair of the Collaborative Practice Manitoba Technology Committee and sits on its Steering Committee.
Involvement with organizations serving those who have challenges accessing justice is a priority for Chau. She has volunteered at A Woman’s Place Legal Help Centre, Legal Aid Manitoba, Pro Bono Students Canada, and at Siloam Mission.
